Margrette Newhouse, MBA

Board Member

Margrette Newhouse has held the John & Elizabeth Myers Chair in Management since 2006, and serves the Director of the Donald McNeely Center for Entrepreneurship since December 2016. Margrette teaches courses in the areas of business strategy, leadership and entrepreneurship. She enjoys coaching and connecting students, faculty, alums and regional communities to define, pursue and achieve their personal and professional aspirations.  

Prior to joining CSB/SJU, Margrette had a successful sixteen year career in the commercial banking industry, which culminated in Senior Vice President and Regional Business Banking Group Leader at M&I Bank. Margrette has BA in Organizational Leadership (Accounting minor) from the College of Saint Benedict and MBA – Strategic Management from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management.   Margrette grew up in Ely, MN with the role models of business & entrepreneurship as her father founded a road construction business, Mesabi Bituminous, while her mother was an active community volunteer and leader. 

Margrette is honored to be joining the Board of Crescent Cove as she and her husband were one of the very first groups Katie shared her vision and initial business plan over a decade ago.   Prior to joining the Board of Directors of Crescent Cove, she has served as a board member of Youth Frontiers, Jack Jablonski Bel13ve in Miracles Foundation and Donald McNeely Center for Entrepreneurship (CSB/SJU) Advisory Board.  Margrette sits of the Board of Directors of Scherer Bros Lumber Co., and serves on its Audit Committee and chairs the Governance Committee

Margrette resides with her husband, John Newhouse (SJU alum), and occasionally her two college age sons, Ben (Northern Michigan University - Graduate School Mathematics) and Jerome (Saint John's University - Computer Science & Finance) in Excelsior, MN. She enjoys reading, walking, college athletics (esp. her son's hockey!), supporting startup and small businesses, entertaining and time with family and friends.
